Treehouse in Costa Rica: Finca Bellavista

Finca Bellavista is a treehouse hotel in Costa Rica with a difference. It is a project, rather than a business, and its story is rather unique. The inspiration for its creation came from a love of the land, which back in 2006 was up for sale as a site for logging. The two founders of Finca Bellavista saved it from this fate with the dream of creating a treehouse village among the canopy. Undertaking this project became a true community endeavor and over years of hard work, creative thinking, and a real team spirit, this little slice of off-grid paradise came into being.

The original plot of land that led to the creation of Finca Bellavista was just 62 acres. The community now encompasses close to 600 acres, including an entire peninsula of rainforest mountains, frontage on two whitewater rivers, big trees, organic gardens, and lots of Costa Rican wildlife. A philosophy of preservation of the wild has guided the growth of this project every step of the way and one of the selling points of experiencing a stay here is the complete immersion in the native flora and fauna that thrive.

Finca Bellavista currently offers 14 separate treehouses for guests to choose from. Each one is privately owned, independently designed, and therefore completely unique. They are accessible by a multitude of ladders, rope bridges, and treks of varying lengths, therefore it is a location where guests must be willing to venture off-piste and embrace their adventurous spirit. However, the rewards to be reaped are second to none. Guests are in the depths of the Costa Rican rainforest and living among these treetops is an experience like no other.

Each treehouse at Finca Bellavista has varying rates for nightly stays. Prices start around €150 per night. Should guests fall in love with the area, long term rentals are also available here! The community also offers volunteer placements, which is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the area while contributing to the work efforts here.
