Treehouse in Costa Rica: Lapa’s Nest Treehouse
Privacy and wildlife are the defining features of Lapa’s Nest Treehouse in the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rica. If it seems familiar, it might be because this spectacular construction has been featured in several TV reality shows. This is the perfect place for those who appreciate a quiet holiday, not disturbed by any other tourists, in the middle of the rainforest and very close to wildlife. It is so much more than an average treehouse resort; it is a refuge in the secluded part of Costa Rica offering privacy and a sense of calm, where guests can truly relax and connect with the natural world.
Lapa’s Nest Treehouse really must be seen to be believed. It has four separate levels and can house up to 8 people comfortably. Living here also means that guests have access to 120 acres of rainforest that surrounds the house, though of course there are options to explore further afield for the more adventurous souls. With the rainforest being literally on the doorstep, the treehouse is nestled within the habitat of wild monkeys, birds, and the myriad of other flora and fauna that inhabit this diverse ecosystem. Staying here offers a rare opportunity to see such wildlife going about their daily business, which is a true once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Wrapped around a 150-foot Guanacaste tree, the design elements of Lapa’s Nest Treehouse flow as if they were leaves on a vine. Each bedroom is found on a different level of the building, giving guests plenty of room to spread out and find their own slice of privacy in the canopy. Inside is a funky mixture of exotic tropical hardwoods, bamboo, and quirky design surprises. The large kitchen and multiple bathrooms are fully equipped, so living in the jungle need not mean roughing it completely!
Lapa’s Nest Treehouse is usually only available for weekly rentals, though 4 or 5-night stays are sometimes considered by special request. Rates for a week start at around €1200 in the low season and fluctuate throughout the year.
