Treehouse in India: Machan Treehouse
The Machan Treehouse resort was a couple of decades in the making. The initial intention was to create an ideal space for the perfect weekend getaway from Mumbai; therefore it needed to be wooded, peaceful, and serene. Of course, acquiring land, leveling the forest, and building a luxury resort does not take so many years but truly thoughtful construction with minimal disruption to the surrounding environment takes a little more thought and a lot more time. The Machan Treehouse resort went further than its goal of minimal disruption, by taking significant steps to improve the quality of the forest, continually funding ongoing conservation and research works, and supporting the local community.
The accommodation at the Machan Treehouse resort is incredible. Some of the available treehouses have been built higher than the canopy itself, allowing for the most outstanding panoramic view of the surrounding forest and even further to the horizon. This is not an accommodation for the faint-hearted, and some of the buildings are not suitable for children due to heights and ladder-access. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience to stay somewhere so exciting, and it is bound to induce feelings of adventure and wonder that harp back to childhood.
As well as the care taken during its inception, the Machan Treehouse resort continues its commitment to green business and conservation during the daily running of the complex. Renewable energy is the primary source of power, water is sourced from a ground well fed by the mountains, greywater is recycled and used for the gardens on the property, and the accommodation itself is limited to ensure that every guest feels as though they are alone in the forest, as well as minimizing the impact on the daily routines of the local wildlife.
The rates to stay in the Mach Treehouse resort start from €120 per night. There are around 20 different treehouses to choose from, each with its own unique setting, though the feeling of luxury spreads through them all equally.
