Treehouse in Norway: The Arctic Hideaway
Many people yearn for escape when booking a holiday and nowhere provides this quite like The Arctic Hideaway in Norvège. This unique resort is located out in the ocean west of Bodø in the island group of Fleinvær and consists of 10 tiny houses. Four of these are private sleeping rooms, and others include toilet and shower facilities, a kitchen area, a chill-out zone, and a sauna. There are no cars, no roads, no shops, and no other residents. All that greets guests are high skies, a broad horizon, and unbelievable tranquility.
The Arctic Hideaway was conceived as a tiny, unobtrusive hotel, sitting in complete harmony with its natural setting. It feels more like an eco-village than tourist accommodation, which is exactly the vibe that the creators wanted. Each sleeping pod on the island can be booked privately, though all the other buildings are for the communal use of all guests. 8 people in total can easily fit in all the available sleeping quarters, though groups of 10 can also be accommodated.
Entertainment at the Arctic Hideaway is all provided by the natural surroundings. Each of the individual pods is elevated, some much higher than others, so from wherever you spend your time there is an incredible view of the stunning Norwegian landscape. Lucky guests have a chance to observe the Northern Lights during their stay here. Should the night sky not illuminate during your time, there is always the chance to see otters, eagles, and other native wildlife going about their daily business. Sunrise is also always a sight to behold.
On arrival at the Arctic Hideaway (by boat usually, though a seaplane is also available) guests are met by a caretaker, who will ensure that each person’s holiday runs smoothly and all their needs on the island are met. Activities that can be organized in the area include tours to neighboring islands, fishing tours, bird watching, shell picking, rock climbing, even hiking to the most beautiful mountain top ( 990 m) in the area.
Rates for a night at the Arctic Hideaway start from €127.
