Many people visit Sri Lanka in the hopes of spotting some of the nation’s incredible wildlife and the Wilpattu Treehouse Hotel is the perfect place to do so. It has a prime location just on the outskirts of Wilpattu National Park, though of course the animals are not aware of such boundaries and are often found using the space of the resort to pass through or take a few moments to relax. The treehouses provide the perfect vantage point to check out the wildlife, where observation can often be made without being noticed in return, thereby catching the animals at peace, doing what they would naturally be doing. This is a treat indeed and reason enough to book a few nights here!

The road leading to the Wilpattu Treehouse Hotel is narrow but well kept and it leads past lakes that give the first chances of an encounter with the native wildlife. Crocodiles, pelicans, and deer can all be seen, and it is clear that they are not disturbed by the passing cars. Elephants and wild boar are regular visitors to the site, and wild lemurs are often heard traversing the roofs of the accommodation. This is what you get off course when staying up in the trees, level with the arboreal animals, and a perfect treat it is too.

The Wilpattu Treehouse Hotel has 4 treehouses to choose from. All sit more than 14 feet off the ground and have outdoor terraces with stunning views of the surrounding jungle. The design brings together traditional Sri Lankan craftsmanship with true home-comforts, and the treehouses have everything guests need to enjoy their stay. It is special indeed to feel so at home within the forest and to feel so unintrusive in the natural surroundings.

The rates at the Wilpattu Treehouse Hotel start from around €90 per night. Guests can choose from staying B&B to paying for all meals included, and the restaurant on site is also elevated, providing further wildlife spotting opportunities and a perfect view of the sunset.
