Stepping onto the Urnatur treehouse retreat in Suède is like entering a hidden community from lost times. Treehouses and cabins are scattered around, camouflaged by moss and foliage like hobbit holes. The communal areas are heated by log fires and lit by candles, and cooking takes place over open flames. The gorgeous lake within walking distance of the camp provides all the serenity one could ask for, and the forest that surrounds the site supports four, lovely treehouses for those guests that want to embrace both the feeling of childhood adventures and the peace offered by the trees.

The owners of Urnatur have paid attention to the feedback of their guests and developed their treehouses with this in mind. They started with one, small construct, built of leftover materials, and just big enough for one person to enjoy a night’s sleep. This simple, elevated cabin sways in the wind and was erected with a sense of fun and a love of the unusual. After inquiries about something suitable for couples, The Aircasle was constructed. This impressive structure is perfect for a romantic getaway, and not at all suitable for children! The single room is accessed via an impressive spiral wooden staircase and a wonderful ladder brings you up higher to a gazebo with an unbelievable view.

Families are not excluded from the fun of a treehouse at Urnatur, and the Big Raven Nest can comfortably sleep four guests. It is anchored among ten pine trees, and the large room has ten windows affording all-encompassing views of the woodland. The balcony of this house is the perfect spot to take in all that nature has to offer and reconnect with one’s self. On the way up to this treehouse is the Little Raven Nest, a perfect add-on for larger families with two additional beds within, though each house must be booked separately.

Rates at Urnatur start from €150 for a night, though the minimum booking is usually for two nights.
