Treehouse in Thailand: Bangkok Treehouse
Located in the green zone of the Bang Nampheung region of Greater Bangkok, the Bangkok Tree House is one of the few green hotels by the river in Bangkok, surrounded by mangrove palms, coconut plantations and singing cicadas
Bangkok Treehouse completely embraces its jungle surroundings and implores guests to do the same. Their website even carries a gentle warning for potential guests to read and understand what they are offering before booking – for example, the rainforest location in Thailand means that there may be a few mosquitoes and other bugs that find their way into the rooms and the hotel does not use any kind of chemical insect repellents or fumigators. The area also can not be accessed by car or road, only by bike, hiking, or boat. Of course, most people would agree that these factors only serve to make a stay here all the more special.
Bangkok Treehouse offers a couple of differing types of accommodation. From treetop rooms that overlook the Chao Phraya river to soaring treehouses that are designed after birds nests, the accommodations here are truly unique, yet the hotel’s steadfast commitment to the environment is what makes Bangkok Treehouse one of the most desirable places to stay in Bangkok for the most green of green travelers.
The largest is the Family Nest, which can sleep up to 4 people and has 3 green roof spaces for those that want to spend as much time as possible in the open air, enjoying the surrounding forest. The most basic type of accommodation is ‘The View with a Room’; this small network of bamboo platforms stands 7 meters off the ground, the mild turquoise sky is your ceiling and mangrove palm trees are your walls. Mosquito netting can be lowered around the bed of course, for protection after dusk. All of the treehouses on offer provide stunning views of the river and a glimpse into life in the rainforest canopy. It is a true jungle paradise.
The complementary services provided at Bangkok Treehouse are plentiful and generous. Breakfast is included with the room rate, and a personal computer is provided in the Family Nest. All treehouses have a great WiFi signal. Guests can rent bikes to explore the surrounding area free of charge, and the resort will also provide cell phones equipped with local SIMs for guests to use for the duration of their stay. Oh, and free, home-made ice cream is available, 24/7.
The rates at Bangkok Treehouse start at €160 per night, and there is no minimum stay. Check out their website for a whole alphabet’s worth of ways these treehouses endeavor to be green.
