Treehouse in the UK: The Oakey Koakey Treehouse

The secluded Oakey Koakey Treehouse is found in Downash Wood, set within five gloriously secluded acres of East Sussex woodland designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is hard to believe that this stunning, private, rural location can be reached within an hour’s drive from London and what a perfect antidote to the city this location provides.

There is plenty of space in the private meadow surrounding the Oakey Koakey Treehouse for the kids to explore and let their imaginations run wild. Meanwhile, the adults can keep watch from the spacious wooden decking, equipped with comfy chairs and scenic countryside views. The elevation of the house means that from the veranda guests are in prime position among the whispering oak treetops to spot some of the shy British wildlife such as deer, badgers, or foxes. When seated here, it feels as though there is no-one else around for miles.

On entering the Oakey Koakey Treehouse, the main room is largely open-plan. A double bed is in the main room, along with a cozy living room area and fully equipped kitchen. In the kids’ room, a branch ladder and birdbox hangers turn the bunk beds into another mini treehouse, and views from big windows everywhere are filled with gently waving trees. If it feels as though the kitchen provides too many mod-cons, guests can instead head down to the barbeque and fire pit and create an authentic camping experience in the wilderness while tucking up in complete comfort in the treehouse at bedtime.

Since the Oakey Koakey Treehouse is so inviting, it makes for a perfect holiday should guests choose to stay put, take in the views, and simply relax. However, if the need for adventure should arise, there are plenty of woodland walks and attractions within driving distance. Rates for this treehouse start at €200 per night. There is a 2-night minimum stay during the week and a 3-night minimum stay over the weekend.
