The incredible treehouse that stands at Kilauea Volcano is something of a celebrity in its own right. It has been featured on The Ellen Show, Extreme Cribs, Treehouses of the World, as well as numerous holiday blogs and unusual accommodation reviews. On the approach to the Treehouse at Kilauea Volcano, guests will notice that there are neighbors along the street and opposite; however, once you enter the world of this magical house, you will feel like you are the only people in the world.

The treehouse at Kilauea Volcano stands within an old-growth rainforest. Though there are a few other people living in the area, it is by no means a populated space. The creators of the treehouse have the health of the forest in mind and aim to impact the area as little as possible. The treehouse is off-grid with a compost toilet. However, do not think that this means there is no luxury; the fantastic hot tub can put paid to any such ideas! The owners do emphasize that with the forest come the animals that live there, and though they carefully maintain all aspects of the house, guests must expect to share the house with a few insects and spiders. It is, after all, not a sterile environment and it would be a shame to attempt to create one in such a beautiful, natural space.

To get to the treehouse at Kilauea Volcano, guests must traverse a path, climb some boulders, then ascend a wooden ladder (do not worry, no specialized equipment is needed!) The interior is gorgeous. Everything is original, rustic, and wonderfully designed. The whole house speaks to relaxation and tranquility, with comfy seats throughout, carefully crafted nooks and corners where guests can tuck away, and an expansive outdoor verandah where guests will be completely immersed in the surrounding forest.

Rates to stay at the treehouse at Kilauea Volcano start at €400 per night and a minimum booking of two nights is usually required. It can be booked via AirBnB.
