Tucked just between Carnac’s ancient stones and Quiberon’s windbrushed coast, there’s a patch of land in southern Brittany where trees lean in close, and quiet seems to hang in the branches. That’s Dihan. It’s a family-run retreat where the accommodations are anything but ordinary—treehouses, yurts, caravans, chalets—and then there’s the Bubble.
You’ll spot it between the maritime pines. Clear, round, floating just a little off the ground like something out of a dream. Climb the small ladder, unzip the entrance, and step inside. What you see? Sky. Pines overhead. The soft shape of heather in the distance. And inside the Bubble: a round bed, low light, just enough comfort to make it feel snug—not sterile.
The magic here isn’t bells and whistles. It’s the fact that your ceiling is the night sky. That you’ll fall asleep watching the moon drift between branches, and wake up to filtered light through pine needles. It’s peaceful. And a little surreal.
The Bubbles sit about a meter and a half off the ground, balanced on a wooden platform. Privacy is handled with curtains, though most guests tend to leave them open—it’s not about hiding away, it’s about opening up. You’re not fully exposed, though. The forest wraps you in just enough green to make you feel alone in the best way.
They’re ideal for two people—romantic getaways, sure—but they also work for small families. Kids love the sense of climbing into something odd and wonderful. There’s room for two adults and up to three kids, depending on which unit you book.
You won’t find hotel perks here. The bathroom’s shared, and you’re still outdoors. There might be a breeze. A bird might tap on the roof. But that’s kind of the point. It’s all about being present. Laying back. Watching. Breathing slower.
Would I stay again? Honestly—yes. Not every night, maybe. But for one or two? It’s a reset. A good kind of strange. The kind you tell people about later with a half-smile, like you’re still not sure it actually happened.
Best Time to Visit
Late spring to early autumn (May–September): The best window for stargazing from the transparent bubbles – mild evenings, long days and generally comfortable temperatures in the Breton countryside. ☀️ °C min/max: +10°/+22°
High summer (July–August): Warmest nights and clearest skies for sleeping almost under the stars; ideal if you want maximum outdoor time, though popular dates book fast. ☀️ °C min/max: +14°/+23°
Shoulder seasons (April & October): Cooler, more atmospheric and quieter; bring layers, but enjoy moody skies and fewer neighbours on the farm. ❄️ °C min/max: +8°/+16°
