Perched between five sturdy oaks and maples in the quiet woods of Sparrow Bush, New York, Little Birds Treehouse is… well, it’s kind of magical. Honestly. It’s the kind of place you think only exists in stories or someone’s Pinterest board. But it’s real—and somehow even better in person.
Getting there feels like a mini adventure in itself. You cross a 12-foot rope bridge (yes, really) to reach a wide wooden deck, about 200 square feet of it, suspended in the trees. It’s the kind of space that makes you want to sit and do absolutely nothing—just breathe in the forest air and listen to the wind in the leaves. It’s quiet in the best way.
Inside, the vibe is cozy and welcoming. The middle level has a comfy little living area with a pull-out sofa, some board games, and a kitchenette that’s got everything you really need: a mini fridge, an induction stove, a sink with hot and cold water, and a few plates and mugs so you don’t have to rough it completely. There’s also a loft for one adult (or two kids, if they don’t mind being a little squished), and upstairs, a proper bedroom that sleeps four. The spiral staircase that leads there? All wood, and kind of a design highlight on its own.
Now, don’t expect five-star luxury—that’s not really the point here. But there’s electricity, hot water, and a sweet little outdoor shower tucked underneath the treehouse. No Wi-Fi, no TV blaring in the background. Just trees, birds, and maybe your dog, because yep, pets are totally welcome (and honestly, they love it).
The treehouse sits on 120 private acres, so you can hike, wander, daydream by the pond, or just do nothing without bumping into anyone. In the evening, bring out a blanket and look up—the stars out here are something else. And if you build a little campfire? Even better.
Architect Jeremy Shannon designed this place with a light touch—nothing flashy, just a thoughtful, beautiful structure that blends right into the trees. And you can feel it. Everything about it feels like it belongs here.
People leave reluctantly. They talk about how calm they felt, how nice it was to be “away from everything,” and how they wish they’d stayed just a bit longer. And yeah… you’ll probably feel the same.

April 16, 2025 at 04:10Just came back from an amazing 3 days at the Little Birds Treehouse! I wish we could have stayed there a few more days! Jeremy was a great host! The Treehouse is on his property but 100% private. The beds were comfortable. We loved that there was no wifi. The kitchenette had everything we needed to heat out food so that we could enjoy dinner outside to the sounds of the wind and birds. We enjoyed making smores at the fire pit. The property is so large, we were able to take a wonderful walk in nature. I would absolutely recommend and plan a future trip to come back. The outdoor shower was amazing. It was about 45 degrees outside and I felt rejuvenated when I came out of it! This short getaway brought us peace and reminded us of our surroundings without the need for technology! We caught up with games, our books and just the simplicity of communication! Thank you, Jeremy and family for sharing this amazing treehouse with us!
